PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Justin Jangla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nyquil Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salazar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Enter Sandman kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Nyquil Salazar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Justin Jangla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nyquil Salazar!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jangla chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Salazar can pounce on him.
Salazar throws a head kick that misses.
Jangla on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
The fight stays on the outside here - Salazar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Salazar scores with a nice body kick.
Salazar looks for the body kick but Jangla saw that one coming.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jangla wants to get back to striking at distance but Salazar won't allow it.

It looks like Justin Jangla has been cut.

Salazar is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

Jangla working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Salazar is trying to control but can't.
Salazar might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jangla kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nyquil Salazar was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Salazar throws a hook but Jangla avoids it easily.
Jangla loads up on a big right hand but Salazar slips the punch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jangla misses with an uppercut. Salazar saw that one coming.
Salazar throws a sloppy head kick and Jangla moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Salazar.

Salazar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jangla can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Salazar is on top in guard.

Nyquil Salazar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Salazar counters with a series of strikes. Jangla will be more careful next time no doubt.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Salazar tries to clinch up but Jangla circles away and keeps his distance.

Nyquil Salazar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jangla tightens his grip and picks Salazar up, before dumping him to the ground. Salazar manages to land in guard.

Salazar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Salazar has his foot on Jangla's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jangla works his way back into a safe position though.

Salazar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jangla has gone for a leg lock! Salazar slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jangla's guard.

Salazar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nyquil Salazar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Salazar throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jangla on the side of the head.

Jangla is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Salazar's half guard.

Nyquil Salazar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salazar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
