PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Artur Grygiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Niko Sirkiä (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grygiel comes into the arena with Sobota- Za damski h... blaring out of the sound system. Sirkiä has chosen Thergothon - Elemental as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grygiel lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Grygiel throws a head kick but Sirkiä moves out of range.
Grygiel gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Sirkiä gets a takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Sirkiä wants to control but Grygiel is keeping him busy.
Sirkiä throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Sirkiä seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
BOOM! Sirkiä connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Grygiel is squirming around, avoiding Sirkiä's attempts to control the action.
Grygiel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sirkiä on the ground.
Sirkiä is landing with some decent strikes but Grygiel is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Sirkiä sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Grygiel swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sirkiä might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Sirkiä stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Grygiel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice shot lands for Sirkiä.
Grygiel looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
No joy there for Grygiel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Grygiel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sirkiä.

Sirkiä dives in and grabs Grygiel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Grygiel pushes down on Sirkiä's head and hops out.

Grygiel has his foot on Sirkiä's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sirkiä works his way back into a safe position though.

Sirkiä is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
