PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladamir Vilatki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruas comes into the arena with Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction blaring out of the sound system. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Vladamir Vilatki was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marco Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladamir Vilatki!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas throws a hook but Vilatki blocks it.

Vilatki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Ruas looking for submissions off his back.
Ruas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Vilatki lands a nice short elbow.
Vilatki not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vilatki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Vilatki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ruas keeping moving, preventing Vilatki from controlling successfully.
Vilatki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ruas has an active guard here but Vilatki has managed to pass into half guard.
Ruas is trying to get back to full guard.
Vilatki is looking to advance position but Ruas won't allow it.
Vilatki tries to stand and escape but Ruas is controlling the position.

Ruas flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Ruas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vilatki's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vilatki's back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vilatki looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Vilatki is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Ruas lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Ruas.

Ruas is trying to stick to Vilatki's back but Vilatki is turning into Ruas. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ruas's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Vilatki.
Ruas wants to sweep but no luck.

Ruas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Ruas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ruas trying to pass the guard but Vilatki defending well.
Vilatki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vilatki looks gassed!

Ruas trying to mount his opponent but Vilatki defends it.
Ruas moves nicely into side control.

Ruas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vilatki knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ruas is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Vilatki looks calm but he's in trouble here. Ruas gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Vilatki is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Ruas lets go of the hold and Vilatki can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marco Ruas!
