Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Archie Bunker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Rain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bunker comes to the cage accompanied by Edith singin Those were the days..... Johnny Rain acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Archie Bunker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Rain!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rain misses with a looping left.
Bunker throws a sloppy head kick and Rain moves out of range easily.
Rain misses with a looping right.
Rain throws a jab but it's blocked by Bunker.
Bunker staying out of range there.
Rain lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rain.
Bunker lands with a kick to the temple. Rain shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Johnny Rain has been cut.
Bunker moves away from the strike by Rain.
Bunker misses with a body shot.
Rain misses with a hook

and Bunker counters by clinching up.

Bunker has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rain is trying to keep an underhook but Bunker manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rain keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Bunker passes to side control.
Rain wants to control but Bunker postures up.

Bunker looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Bunker tries to score with some ground and pound. Rain controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bunker lands a few punches from side control.
Rain is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bunker's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Bunker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rain sees it coming and defends easily.
Rain is looking for a sweep. Bunker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Bunker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rain's head.
Rain wants to control but Bunker is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bunker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bunker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rain keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Bunker is thwarting Rain's attempts to control the position.

Rain works his way to full guard. Good work.
Bunker landing with the ground and pound.
Bunker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bunker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Rain decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bunker, up you get!
Bunker throws a right hand that Rain ducks under and follows up with a left that Rain also avoids with ease.
Rain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bunker tries to clinch but Rain moves out of range.

and Bunker holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Rain is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Rain on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rain stops a takedown attempt from Bunker.
Rain wants to take the fight to the mat but Bunker manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bunker goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rain prevents it.
Rain has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bunker avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Bunker swings wildly with an uppercut but Rain uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bunker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Archie Bunker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bunker tries to move into range but Rain moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Johnny Rain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rain connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Bunker uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rain.
Rain lands with a nice body punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rain. Bunker does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bunker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rain swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Bunker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bunker.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bunker tries to throw a body punch but Rain avoids it by throwing Bunker back against the cage.
Bunker drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rain gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Bunker lands a nice uppercut.
Rain is trying to push Bunker away but Bunker has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Rain has had enough of the clinch but Bunker keeps him there for the moment.

Bunker creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Rain's defenses.

Bunker digs a right hand underneath Rain's ribcage. Rain let out a lung full of air as it connected.

That has opened up Johnny Rain's cut even more.

Bunker gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Bunker trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Bunker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Bunker is looking to clinch.
Bunker shoots in looking for a takedown but Rain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bunker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rain lands a nice hook to Bunker's body. Bunker takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Rain throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bunker sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rain throws an off balance right hand
and Bunker counters with a left and a right that stings Rain.
Bunker walks into a straight right hand from Rain.

Bunker throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rain was covering up waiting for the punch and Bunker finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bunker is working Rain over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bunker looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Rain wants to stand and escape but instead Bunker has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Rain is trying to control the position but Bunker postures up.
Bunker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bunker works over Rain with some ground and pound from guard.
Johnny Rain has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bunker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bunker has Rain in his guard.
Rain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bunker is proving hard to escape from.

Bunker kicks Rain off and gets to his feet.
The crowd cheers as Rain lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bunker doesn't seem phased though.
Rain cracks a nice hook into Bunker's ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rain misses with a hook.

Bunker clinches up against the cage.

Rain successfully pulls guard.
Bunker trying to control the position from guard on top but Rain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bunker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Bunker throws a strike but Rain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Bunker is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Rain.
Bunker pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Rain is trying to break free.
Rain can't find room to land a body shot as Bunker controls the action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Bunker.
Rain wants to break the clinch but can't.
Bunker changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bunker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rain paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Archie Bunker showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bunker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
