PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martell Hennessey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Slone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hennessey might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Oh My by: Roscoe Dash. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slone has closed the distance and engaged Hennessey in a clinch.
Slone taking a breather.

Slone ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Slone no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Hennessey tries to stand but Slone is controlling from the bottom.

Hennessey drops back looking for a leg! Slone is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Slone manages to kick Hennessey off! Hennessey jumps back into Slone's guard.
Hennessey pushes down on Slone's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Slone gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hennessey to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Slone wants to stand but Hennessey is controlling the position.

Hennessey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Slone controls Hennessey momentarily but Hennessey frees himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Slone shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hennessey reaches up to try and control the position but Slone seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Hennessey rolls and tries to escape and now Slone has his back!

Slone somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Slone is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hennessey knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hennessey for a finish.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Slone changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hennessey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hennessey shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Hennessey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hennessey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Slone tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hennessey decides to stand back up.

Hennessey is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Slone's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Slone's back!

Hennessey is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Slone is defending well though. Hennessey let's go of the attempt for now.
