PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Hominick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Hominick looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Hominick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan D!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
D looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hominick is fending him off so far but D persists. Nope, Hominick circles away and we're back to standing.

and D counters with a nice double leg into guard.
D distracts Hominick with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
D seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

D is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hominick manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. D manages to get himself to full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
D fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hominick thuds a left hand into D's body.
D shoots for a takedown but Hominick saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

D shoots in and bounces Hominick off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Hominick.
I think D has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
