The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Petrov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gabriel misses with a low kick as Petrov jumps back.
Gabriel chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Petrov can pounce on him.
Gabriel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Petrov looks to score with a jab to the body but Gabriel is just out of range.
Petrov jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Gideon Gabriel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gabriel feints and then cracks Petrov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Petrov down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gabriel. Petrov does a little dance to reset his feet.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Gabriel.
Gabriel dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Petrov. That did some damage!
Petrov throws a body punch but Gabriel moves out of range.

Petrov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Gabriel has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Petrov checks the leg kick nicely there.
Gabriel throws a hook to the side of Petrov's head but Petrov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gabriel connects with a leg kick. Petrov looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Gabriel lands a jab to Petrov's midsection.
Gabriel looks to score with a jab to the body but Petrov is just out of range.
Gabriel is looking to wear down Petrov with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Gabriel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Petrov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gabriel.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like Dimitri Petrov has been cut.

and Petrov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Petrov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Petrov blocks a head kick by Gabriel.
Gabriel comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

and Petrov counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Petrov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Petrov moves out of range of the strikes.
Petrov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gabriel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gabriel scoring well with a low kick there.
The fighters circle, before Gabriel throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Petrov's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Gabriel lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Gideon Gabriel!
Gideon Gabriel decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
