PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elvis Silvino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silvino kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Pain Killer. Vitor Belfort will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Elvis Silvino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silvino closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silvino lands in his opponent's guard.

Belfort escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silvino gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silvino trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Belfort manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Silvino throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Belfort wants to pass the guard but Silvino is keeping the position.
Silvino avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Belfort is fighting to break Silvino's control of his arms but Silvino is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Belfort lands a nice short elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silvino wants to control but Belfort is keeping busy.
Belfort seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silvino does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Belfort throws a series of punches but Silvino avoids them all with ease.
Silvino could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Silvino takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Silvino shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Belfort defends it nicely.

Silvino manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Belfort on his heels. He'll look to pass Belfort's guard now, I'm sure.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Belfort is on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Silvino holds on and takes a little breather.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silvino goes for a takedown in the clinch but Belfort prevents it.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Belfort.

Belfort gets control of Silvino's arms and successfully pulls guard. Belfort will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Belfort is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Silvino has Belfort pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Belfort manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The crowd cheers as Belfort lands an impressive looking overhand right. Silvino doesn't seem phased though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Elvis Silvino.
I think Belfort has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
