Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matti Vanhanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hideo Nomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Vanhanen might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I wanna fuck you in the ass. Nomo has chosen Down Rodeo as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vanhanen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vanhanen lands in his opponent's guard.

Vanhanen distracts Nomo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Nomo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vanhanen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vanhanen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Vanhanen tries to bum rush Nomo with a series of wild strikes but Nomo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Nomo is looking for a sweep. Vanhanen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Nomo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Vanhanen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nomo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nomo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vanhanen has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Nomo has control of Vanhanen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vanhanen regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Vanhanen is looking to clinch.

Vanhanen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nomo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Vanhanen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nomo's guard now.

Nomo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Vanhanen is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nomo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Vanhanen's back instead.

Nomo working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Vanhanen is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Nomo has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Vanhanen taps out!
