The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pical rushes Punga and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pical landing knees to the body.
Pical gets underhooks to prevent Punga's takedown attempt.

Punga pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Pical back to the cage. Punga follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Punga jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pical walks away with a smile on his face. Punga gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Elyas Pical has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kota Punga.
Both fighters circling a little - Pical finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Pical throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Punga takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Punga lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
