Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thome with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Smith is breathing heavily.

Thome closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thome lands in his opponent's guard.
Thome tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.

Thome drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thome jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Thome distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thome postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Smith is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Thome, into his guard.

Thome has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Smith doesn't defend quickly enough and Thome has managed to lock this one up! Can Smith escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Thome on a fantastic submission victory.

A relieved looking Mitch Thome thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
