The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rua misses with a takedown attempt
and Kreedy counters with a nice body shot.
Kreedy slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kreedy lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rua throws a sloppy head kick and Kreedy moves out of range easily.

Kreedy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rua's head.
Kreedy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Kreedy decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rua, up you get!

Rua shoots in looking for a takedown. Kreedy tries to sprawl out of it but Rua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kreedy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Kreedy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Rua shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kreedy as he avoids it easily.
Kreedy fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rua looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kreedy has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kreedy gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Kreedy.
Kreedy lands a left hand.
Kreedy blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Kreedy works on Rua's body with a couple of short punches.
Kreedy pushes Rua back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Kreedy wants the takedown. Rua is fighting it off but Kreedy persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Rua's guard against the cage.
Rua wants to stand but Kreedy is controlling the position.

The referee asks Kreedy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kreedy prefers to stall for the moment though.

Rua knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kreedy on the ground.
Kreedy connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Rua some visible discomfort.

Kreedy lands a nice forearm strike.
Oh Rua is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Rua takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Kreedy slows the pace down.
Kreedy cracks Rua with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Kreedy immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Rua is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Kreedy!

Diesel Kreedy decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
