PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and West Rupp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce comes to the cage accompanied by Joy Division - Atmosphere. West Rupp told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bobby Bruce!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, West Rupp!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rupp closes the distance and clinches up with Bruce, looking for a takedown. Rupp pushes Bruce against the cage but Bruce circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bruce slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Rupp misses with a two punch combination.
Bruce scores with a nice head shot.
Bruce bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rupp's head backwards.
Rupp misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bruce.
Rupp fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bruce checks it well.
Rupp doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Bruce counters with a solid body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bruce tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rupp was well out of range. Poor timing from Bruce.
Nice body kick there by Bruce.
Rupp looks gassed!
Bruce thuds his shin into the meat of Rupp's side.
A slapping body kick lands there for Bruce.
Bruce thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Rupp if he has to take too many more of those.
Rupp gets tackled into the cage by Bruce. Bruce maintains the clinch.
Bruce lands with a short shot to the head.
Bruce working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Rupp is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruce lands a nice uppercut.
Rupp is still on wobbly legs! Can Bruce finish him?
Rupp's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Rupp is pressed against the cage. Bruce pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Rupp! Two more big strikes from Bruce and Rupp crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Bobby Bruce!
Bobby Bruce retains his lightweight title!
