PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alyston Dion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick The Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alyston Dion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nick The Stone!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dion shoots in looking for a takedown. The Stone tries to sprawl out of it but Dion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Stone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dion throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Stone's waist but The Stone gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dion off to one side.

and The Stone holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alyston Dion. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The Stone breaks the clinch.
The Stone pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dion really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The Stone rushes Dion and presses him up against the cage.
The Stone is defending well against a takedown attempt.

The Stone gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The Stone is taking a breather. Dion says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that The Stone has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The Stone decides to stand up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The Stone drives through with a takedown into Dion's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The Stone prevents Dion from getting back to his feet.
The Stone is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Dion is looking to stand up but The Stone isn't so interested in that idea.

Dion will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Dion can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as The Stone controls the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The Stone is standing up over Dion. Dion looks to escape but The Stone dives into side control.
Dion is breathing heavily.
The Stone grinds an elbow into Dion's temple.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The Stone decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dion to his feet.

The Stone closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dion quickly recovers to half guard.
The Stone uses his free foot to push down on Dion's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dion.

The Stone working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The Stone controlling the position easily from mount.
Dion's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dion is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, The Stone cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The Stone pushes Dion up against the cage in a clinch.
Dion is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables The Stone to keep the fight standing.

Dion has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics The Stone uses from the top position.
The Stone is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dion is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst The Stone is controlling him.

The Stone looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Dion really wants to buck The Stone off and get back to his feet.

The Stone dives in and scores a takedown into Dion's guard.

The Stone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dion swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dion gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dion tries to buck The Stone off but he can't manage it.

You get the feeling that Dion really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The Stone tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Dion really wants to buck The Stone off and get back to his feet.
Nick The Stone has got the better of the ground game so far.

The Stone cracks Dion with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Alyston Dion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nick The Stone is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well The Stone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
