PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Baine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Parcaut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baine comes to the cage accompanied by The Show Goes On. Parcaut comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Maniac kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Baine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ralph Parcaut!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baine tries to close the distance and clinch but Parcaut swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Parcaut throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ralph Parcaut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parcaut fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Baine is out of range.
Baine showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Parcaut.
Parcaut misses with a wild combination.
Parcaut avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Baine gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Baine has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Parcaut is working Baine over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Baine pulls Parcaut in close to his closed guard and prevents Parcaut from doing any damage or advancing position.
Parcaut is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Baine wants to get back to his feet but Parcaut is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Baine is working for a guillotine from mount but Parcaut frees his head quite easily.

Baine is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Parcaut has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Baine has hold of Parcaut's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Parcaut manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Baine is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Parcaut is surviving well by controlling Baine's body position as best he can.

Baine has control of Parcaut's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Parcaut regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Baine will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Parcaut bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Baine drops back looking for a leg! Parcaut is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Parcaut manages to kick Baine off! Baine jumps back into Parcaut's guard.

Parcaut stuffs the takedown attempt from Baine. Baine gets slowly back to his feet.

Baine keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Parcaut throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Baine tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Parcaut is in Baine's guard.

Baine's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Parcaut connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Baine scrambles back to his feet.

Parcaut has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Baine is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Baine gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Baine is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Parcaut is just riding it out for now. Baine eventually gives up the hold.

Baine is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Parcaut has managed to free his arm - good work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parcaut has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Baine is working away from the top position though.

Parcaut wants to control but Baine is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Parcaut moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Baine is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Parcaut can do anything to dispel that myth.

Baine thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Baine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parcaut swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Parcaut controls Baine momentarily but Baine frees himself.
Parcaut wants to sweep here but Baine controlling him for the moment.
Parcaut lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Baine!

Baine is desperately trying to improve his position but Parcaut has a good base and remains in mount.

Parcaut is landing with some decent strikes but Baine is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Parcaut postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Baine looks a forlorn figure.
Baine is desperately trying to improve his position but Parcaut has a good base and remains in mount.

Ralph Parcaut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Parcaut winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
