PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drago Kozlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kozlov comes to the cage accompanied by Back in the USSR. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Drago Kozlov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dean Reed!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reed throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Reed misses the jab.
Kozlov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reed takes a swing at Kozlov's ribcage but misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kozlov enables Reed to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kozlov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Dean Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kozlov feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Reed's calf.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Reed crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kozlov - the referee stops the clock and Reed gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kozlov. Reed manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Reed rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Kozlov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Reed tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kozlov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reed somewhat.

It looks like Drago Kozlov has been cut.

Reed jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kozlov walks away with a smile on his face. Reed gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kozlov doesn't manage to clinch there - Reed circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Reed is trying to drag Kozlov to the mat but Kozlov just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Drago Kozlov showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kozlov has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Drago Kozlov opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
