PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boris Wupaski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Howard was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Boris Wupaski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Howard!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Howard fails to land the takedown.
Howard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wupaski avoids it really well and circles away.
Howard ducks under a wild hook from Wupaski.

Wupaski connects with a body shot.
Wupaski lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Howard is defended easily by Wupaski.
Boris Wupaski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Howard.
Wupaski throws an overhand right that lands on Howard's shoulder, as Howard tries to avoid the shot.

Wupaski shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Howard eats them both and turns towards Wupaski to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wupaski loads up on a big right hand but Howard slips the punch.
Howard tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Wupaski is able to avoid easily.
Wupaski throws a hook but Howard avoids it easily.
Wupaski scores with a sloppy right hand. Howard should have avoided that one.
Howard displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wupaski throws out the jab.

Howard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Howard lands in his opponent's guard.
Wupaski has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Wupaski is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Howard drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wupaski dives on top into guard.

Wupaski swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wupaski slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Wupaski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Howard sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Howard takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wupaski looks to score with a jab to the body but Howard is just out of range.

Wupaski feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Howards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Howard fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Wupaski has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Howard fails to land with a series of punches.
Howard shoots in but no luck this time.
Wupaski stuffs the takedown attempt from Howard. Howard gets slowly back to his feet.
Wupaski lands with a cross.
Wupaski misses with an uppercut. Howard saw that one coming.
Boris Wupaski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Howard shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wupaski sprawls well. Wupaski wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Howard gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Wupaski on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wupaski tries to get out of the position.
Howard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wupaski swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Howard tries for a takedown but Wupaski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Howard closes the distance and clinches up with Wupaski, looking for a takedown. Howard pushes Wupaski against the cage but Wupaski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
John Howard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wupaski comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Howard's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Wupaski connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Howard scrambles back to his feet.

Wupaski fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Howard manages to avoid it.

Howard takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

The fighters circle momentarily. Wupaski darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Howard has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Wupaski.
Howard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wupaski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Howard somewhat.

Howard tries to bum rush Wupaski with a series of wild strikes but Wupaski uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Howard throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wupaski tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Howard is in Wupaski's guard.
Howard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wupaski is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

and Wupaski counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wupaski feints and then cracks Howard's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Howard down.

Howard feints and as Wupaski raises his hands in defense, Howard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Howardis looking to pass into half guard but Wupaski pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Wupaski is in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Howard is trying to control the position but Wupaski postures up.

Howard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wupaski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Howard controls Wupaski momentarily but Wupaski frees himself.

Wupaski gets to his feet. Howard looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

And that's the end of the fight!
Boris Wupaski showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wupaski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
