The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gillespie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Armas.
Gillespie jabs Armas to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Gillespie shoots in and drives through. Armas sprawls well.
Gillespie shoots in for a takedown but Armas shows good takedown defense.
Armas ducks under a wild hook from Gillespie.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Armas will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Armas takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Armas is pressed up against the cage. Gillespie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Armas down to the mat. Armas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Matt Armas is winning the standup battle so far.
Armas feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gillespie's calf.
Gillespie throws a body punch but Armas moves out of range.
Gillespie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Armas's waist but Armas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gillespie off to one side.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Armas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
