PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brock Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Bjorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bjorn has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bjorn lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cruz at a distance.
Cruz throws a series of punches but Bjorn moves out of range.
Cruz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bjorn circles away quickly and effectively.
Cruz on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Cruz drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bjorn looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cruz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Cruz wants to stand up but Bjorn has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Bjorn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cruz is working away from the top position though.

Cruz stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Bjorn shoots in but Cruz avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Cruz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bjorn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cruz is in Bjorn's guard.

Cruz wants to stand but Bjorn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Cruz stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Cruz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bjorn eats them both and turns towards Cruz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Adam Bjorn has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cruz swings for the body but Bjorn moves out of range.
Cruz connects with a body shot that sends Bjorn's belly button to the back.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cruz. Bjorn does a little dance to reset his feet.

Cruz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Cruz moves into range and clinches up with Bjorn.

Cruz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cruz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Cruz tries to bum rush Bjorn with a series of wild strikes but Bjorn uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Cruz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bjorn did well to prevent Cruz getting side control.

Cruz escapes and gets back to his feet.

Cruz bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Bjorn's head.
Cruz punishes Bjorn's body with a nice straight punch.
Cruz throws a nice looking combination but Bjorn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Cruz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bjorn's guard.

Cruz lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bjorn takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Bjorn tries to kick Cruz off but Cruz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cruz tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bjorn controls his leg.

BOOM! Cruz lands a beautiful left hook that drops Bjorn. Bjorn tries to recover but Cruz is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Bjorn lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
