The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bartling shoots in for a takedown but Segal shows good takedown defense.
Segal looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Segal avoids the head kick by Bartling.
Segal with a poor takedown
and Bartling counters with a shoot takedown. Segal fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bartling trying to control the position from guard on top but Segal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Segal has momentary wrist control but Bartling slips an elbow through the middle.

Bartling shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Segal's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bartling stays in close to Segal's body and controls the position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bartling in particular looking to stall.
Bartling prevents Segal from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Segal is looking for a sweep. Bartling is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bartling looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Segal with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bartling is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Segal is refusing to be controlled, as Bartling sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bartling manages to capitalize on a mistake by Segal to take his back!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bartling gets his hands free as Segal looks to control.

Bartling is really struggling to control Segal but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bartling wants to clinch.
Bartling shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Segal counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bartling!
Bartling tries to hold on but Segal postures up.
Segal trying to control but Bartling is having none of it.
Bartling tries to lock up and control but Segal gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bartling is working to get back to half guard.

Bartling sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Bartling is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Bartling has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Segal. Oh but Bartling has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Segal goes limp - he's gone! Bartling jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
