Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Ooka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Kang!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Ooka!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kang smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Kang throws a series of punches but Ooka moves out of range.
Ooka throws a series of punches but Kang avoids them all with ease.
Ooka misses with a hook. Kang ducked under it nicely.
Ooka throws a head kick but Kang moves out of range.
Kang throws an off balance right hand
and Ooka connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kang cracks Ooka with a good jab.


It looks like Paul Ooka has been cut.
Kang throws out a loose jab but Ooka uses good head movement to avoid it.
A punch combination from Ooka misses.
Ooka swinging wildly here.
Kang throws a hook but Ooka avoids it easily.
Ooka shoots in for a takedown but Kang shows good takedown defense.
Ooka lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A nice combination there by Ooka.
Ooka walks into a straight right hand from Kang.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ooka throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ooka throws a lazy uppercut

and Kang counters by moving into the clinch.

Kang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kang misses the jab.
Kang tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ooka swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kang cracks the inside of Ooka's front leg.
Kang fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ooka looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kang connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A head kick from Ooka lands but Kang takes it in his stride.
Ooka looks gassed!
Kang walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ooka is looking to clinch but Kang is avoiding it.
Kang connects with a looping right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kang throws a series of punches but Ooka moves out of range.
Paulo Kang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kang fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kang blocks a head kick by Ooka.
Kang jabs Ooka to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kang connects with a leg kick. Ooka looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A bone on bone clash there as Ooka blocks the leg kick.
No luck for Ooka with that takedown attempt.
Nice shot lands for Kang.

Kang drives through and clinches with Ooka against the cage.
Kang lands with a left to the head.
Ooka taking a breather.
Kang is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Paulo Kang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Ooka.
Kang lands with a left to the head.
Ooka wants a takedown.

Kang lands a body shot in the clinch.
Kang scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Kang with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Kang landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Kang lands an elbow just above Ooka 's eye.
Kang manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Kang misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kang swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kang throws a head punch that misses.
Kang connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ooka's face.
Kang stalling the fight.
Ooka tries for a takedown but Kang manages to get underhooks.
Kang lands a knee to the head.


Ooka is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for Kang to work.
Ooka is still on wobbly legs! Can Kang finish him?
Kang lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Kang digs a right hand underneath Ooka's ribcage. Ooka let out a lung full of air as it connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kang gets through Ooka's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Kang lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Ooka to his knees! Kang keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paulo Kang!
Paulo Kang retains his middleweight title!
After winning the bout, Paulo Kang thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
