Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerrard Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason David Frank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerrard Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason David Frank!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frank with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jones to score with a decent uppercut.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Frank can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jones controls the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Frank is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.

Frank should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Frank has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.

Jones works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Frank dives on top into guard.

Frank got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Frank has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.
Frank is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Frank shoots in but no luck this time.

and Jones counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Frank is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Jones takes the fight into the clinch.

Frank tries to break free but Jones pushes him back against the cage.

Frank wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Frank on the ground.

Frank is breathing heavily.
Frank won't allow Jones to get back to his feet.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.

Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jones seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Jones throws a series of punches but Frank avoids them all with ease.
Frank misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Jones gets control of Frank's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Frank would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Frank takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jones is pulling down on Frank's head. It's preventing any offense from Frank, at least for the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Gerrard Jones wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Frank gets caught napping as Jones dives in and scores a takedown. Frank manages to retain guard.
Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jones has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gerrard Jones.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Frank, pushing him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
