PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Boldin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Slice might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to All I Do is Win. Boldin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. My time is now kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Robert Boldin will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kimbo Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Boldin!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Slice scores with a jab to the jaw.
Slice thows a body shot but no joy.
Boldin blocks a jab.
Boldin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Boldin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Slice misses with a looping right.
A looping hook to the body misses from Slice. Boldin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Slice blocks a head kick by Boldin.
Boldin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Slice.
Boldin throws a head kick that misses.
Boldin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Slice.
Slice throws a lazy body kick
and Boldin counters with a thumping low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boldin tries to close the distance and clinch but Slice swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Slice blocks a head kick by Boldin.
Boldin darts in trying to clinch
and Slice makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Boldin really felt that one!
Slice shoots in but Boldin avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Slice checks a low kick from Boldin.
Slice with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Slice lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Boldin avoids the body shot from Slice.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boldin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Slice throws a hook but Boldin avoids it easily.
Robert Boldin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boldin is looking to clinch but Slice is avoiding it.
Slice will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Slice clobbers Boldin with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boldin drives through and clinches with Slice against the cage.
Slice managing to block the knees to the body from Boldin.

Slice jumps guard and drags Boldin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Slice is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Slice looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Slice takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Boldin is looking to control Slice's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Boldin avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Slice keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boldin is looking to improve his position.
Slice slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kimbo Slice.
Slice takes a shot to the body in his stride.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slice swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Boldin.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A telegraphed right hand from Slice misses the target.
Boldin slips under a jab.
Slice wants to slow Boldin down by chopping away at his legs.
Jab, jab by Slice - just one landing.
Boldin throws a lazy head kick
and Slice counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Boldin tries to clinch up.
Boldin misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimbo Slice dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Boldin moves forwards but Slice connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Slice throws a leg kick that misses.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Slice here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Slice throws a leg kick that is checked
and Boldin counters with an inside leg kick.
Boldin throws a sloppy head kick and Slice moves out of range easily.
Boldin checks a leg kick nicely.
Slice jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Boldin is looking to clinch but Slice is avoiding it.

Slice throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Boldin was covering up waiting for the punch and Slice finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Slice showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Boldin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slice. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Slice slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Boldin is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Slice off and has taken his back!

Boldin is trying to stick to Slice's back but Slice is turning into Boldin. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Boldin's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Slice.
Slice trying to control the position from guard on top but Boldin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slice is really struggling to control Boldin but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Boldin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Slice trying to control but Boldin is working from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Slice looking to pass the guard.

Slice has gone for a leg lock! Boldin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Slice's guard.
Slice wants to sweep but no luck.
Slice might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boldin wants to stand but Slice is controlling his posture from full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Slice holds on and takes a little breather.
Boldin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Slice is proving hard to escape from.
Boldin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Slice thows a body shot but no joy.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Boldin.
Boldin works over Slice's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Kimbo Slice has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slice tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Boldin is able to avoid easily.
Boldin throws a nice outside leg kick.
Slice throws a jab when Boldin was well out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boldin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Slice wants to slow Boldin down by chopping away at his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Robert Boldin will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Kimbo Slice's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Boldin throws a sloppy head kick and Slice moves out of range easily.
Slice scores with a nice head shot.
Boldin swings for the body but Slice moves out of range.
Boldin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A lazy body kick from Slice
and Boldin counters with a body kick.
A nice inside leg kick there by Boldin. That's going to slow Slice down.
Slice moves out of range of the body kick.
Slice throws a hook to the side of Boldin's head but Boldin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boldin is looking to clinch.
Slice avoids the head kick by Boldin.
Robert Boldin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boldin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Robert Boldin seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Slice changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Slice moves out of range of the body kick from Boldin.
Some wild striking there from Boldin.
Slice on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Boldin. Boldin obviously looking to wear him down.

Kimbo Slice seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slice changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Boldin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Slice lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Slice scores with a sloppy right hand. Boldin should have avoided that one.
Slice connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Slice looks to land a right hand but Boldin moved out of range.
Slice misses with a body kick.

Boldin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Slice connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Boldin scrambles back to his feet.
Boldin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slice swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Slice gets the takedown into side control.

Slice taking a breather here.
You can see the frustration on Boldin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Slice takes a little break here. Boldin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Boldin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Slice throws a leg kick but Boldin sees it coming and moves out of range.
Slice moves into range and connects with a jab.

Slice closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Slice is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Boldin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slice is looking to take a break and control but Boldin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kimbo Slice showed his dominance in that final round.

A less than humble Kimbo Slice misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
