The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia shoots in and gets a takedown into De Abreu's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Maia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Maia is stalling in the full guard.
Maia seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down De Abreu for as long as he can get away with.
Maia pushes down on De Abreu's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Maia is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Maia passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for De Abreu!
Maia fails to take his opponent's back.

Maia has both hooks in and is working for a choke. De Abreu is in real trouble here. Maia gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, De Abreu is tapping out! Maia wins by rear naked choke!
