PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Chankin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Muratti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chankin comes to the cage accompanied by medieval battle. The crowd seem to be enjoying Muratti's choice of entrance music: Limp Bizkit- Break Stuff. The key to victory for Andre Chankin has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Andre Chankin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joseph Muratti!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chankin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Chankin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Chankin thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Muratti wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Chankin.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chankin prevents Muratti from getting the reversal.
Chankin looking to ground and pound but Muratti is blocking nicely.

Muratti is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Chankin with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Chankin looking to control but Muratti is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Chankin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chankin is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Chankin wants to control the pace but Muratti is squirming around nicely.

Chankin is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Muratti to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Muratti shrugs it off.

Chankin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Muratti turns into him and now he's in Chankin's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chankin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Muratti seems to be looking for submissions.
Muratti has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Muratti moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Chankin has worked his arm free - good work by Chankin!
Chankin manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Chankin wants to take a breather but Muratti is having none of it.
Chankin content to control rather than advance.
Muratti is refusing to be controlled, as Chankin sits in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Muratti tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chankin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Muratti somewhat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andre Chankin.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chankin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Muratti manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Muratti with that takedown attempt.

Chankin shoots in and bounces Muratti off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Chankin works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Muratti manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Chankin wants to control from the top but Muratti keeps moving.

Chankin keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Muratti's head.
Chankin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Chankin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Muratti swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Muratti has control of Chankin's left arm, preventing Chankin from doing any damage.
Chankin wants to stand but Muratti is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andre Chankin wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Muratti swats away the attempt to clinch by Chankin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice takedown defense from Chankin. No joy for Muratti on that attempt.

Muratti dives in and grabs Chankin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Chankin pushes down on Muratti's head and hops out.

Muratti fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Muratti is defending against the submission attempts here by Chankin.

Chankin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Chankin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Chankin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Muratti keeps working.

Chankin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Muratti doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chankin.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chankin wants to take a breather but Muratti is having none of it.
Joseph Muratti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andre Chankin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Chankin is just content to waste time from the top position. Muratti takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Chankin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Muratti is keeping the position for now.

Well Chankin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
