PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Phil Hsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artemis Entreri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hsu's entrance music is Lose Yourself. A fine choice. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Artemis Entreri was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Hsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Artemis Entreri!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hsu scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Hsu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Entreri knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Entreri tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Entreri controls the position for a moment.
Entreri can't do much from the bottom here.
Hsu throws a strike aimed at the side of Entreri's head but Entreri avoids it well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hsu fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Entreri is looking for a sweep.
Hsu tries to stand but Entreri is controlling his head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Entreri shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Entreri won't allow Hsu to sweep him here.
Hsu is working hard here to advance position.
Entreri postures up.

Entreri gets to his feet - Hsu follows without any prompting.
Hsu is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Entreri.
Entreri tries to bum rush Hsu with a series of wild strikes but Hsu uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Entreri stuffs the takedown.
Entreri scores with a nice strike.


Hsu is rocked!

Entreri clinches.
Hsu jumps guard but Entreri stands there with Hsu around his waist. Hsu gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Entreri is working for takedown but Hsu is calmly controlling the position for now.
Hsu is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hsu is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Entreri gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Hsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Entreri successfully pulls guard.
Entreri keeping full guard, as Hsu tries to pass.
Entreri wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Entreri pushes Hsu off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hsu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hsu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Entreri keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hsu goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Entreri is on top in guard.
Hsu wants to stand but Entreri is controlling the position.
Entreri looking to sit in guard and control but Hsu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Entreri can't keep his opponent in guard - Hsu advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Hsu is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hsu wants to pass to mount but Entreri is defending the position.
Hsu content to control rather than advance.
Hsu wants to control but Entreri is keeping him busy.
Hsu thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Entreri's head.
Entreri is refusing to be controlled, as Hsu sits in half guard.
Hsu trying to control from Entreri's half guard. Entreri has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Artemis Entreri dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Hsu instigates a clinch.
Hsu has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Entreri is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hsu really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Entreri has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hsu avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Entreri has hold of one of Hsu's legs. Hsu is fighting the takedown attempt but Entreri gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Entreri wants to control from the top but Hsu keeps moving.
Entreri is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Hsu looking to hit a scissor sweep but Entreri is one step ahead there.
Entreri has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hsu is proving hard to escape from.
Hsu trying to keep a closed guard but Entreri is proving a slippery customer.
Entreri is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hsu throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Entreri won't allow Hsu to get back to his feet.
Hsu keeping full guard, as Entreri tries to pass.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Hsu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Entreri tries to avoid it but Hsu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Entreri to the ground. Entreri escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Left hook, right uppercut from Entreri.
Hsu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Entreri as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Hsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Entreri throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hsu closes the distance and clinches up with Entreri, looking for a takedown. Hsu pushes Entreri against the cage but Entreri circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Entreri gets a takedown into half guard.

Entreri decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Entreri takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hsu tries to clinch but Entreri moves out of range.
Entreri swats away the attempt to clinch by Hsu.
Entreri darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Oh Hsu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like Phil Hsu has been cut.
Hsu has a takedown stuffed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Entreri throws an overhand right that has Hsu reeling! Entreri follows up with a more punches and Hsu is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Artemis Entreri!
