Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Upton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quantrell Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Upton comes to the cage accompanied by Shutterbug. Bishop has chosen big weenie - as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Upton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Quantrell Bishop!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Upton scores with a body shot.
Upton uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bishop.
Bishop takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bishop lands a right hook to the body.
Bishop looks to land a right hand but Upton moved out of range.
Bishop misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Upton.
Bishop fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Upton.
Upton takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Upton lands a jab.
Bishop thows a body shot but no joy.
Upton misses the jab.
Upton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bishop is fending him off so far but Upton persists. Nope, Bishop circles away and we're back to standing.
Upton misses with a straight left.
Upton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bishop lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Luke Upton has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A punch lands to the side of Upton 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Upton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bishop wants to control but Upton postures up.

Upton sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bishop is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Bishop is looking for a sweep.
Bishop is trying to control Upton's posture but Upton avoids it.
Upton fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Upton tries for a kimura but Bishop is defending well.
Upton throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Bishop works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Upton lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Upton is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bishop doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Upton.
Bishop tries to roll over but Upton keeps him under control.

Upton is looking for a kimura but Bishop is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Upton to get the leverage.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Upton lands a nice short elbow.
Bishop is controlling Upton's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Bishop is trying to maintain the position but Upton is very close to passing his half guard.
Bishop is in trouble now - Upton has advanced to mount!
Bishop wants to control but Upton is having none of it.

Upton moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bishop has worked his arm free - good work by Bishop!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bishop is working to avoid the ground and pound but Upton connects with a decent elbow.

Upton is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bishop knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Upton blocks a jab.
Upton tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bishop sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Upton somewhat.
Upton works over Bishop's head and body with a nice combination.
Bishop avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bishop uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Upton.
Bishop misses with a wild body shot.
Upton checks a low kick from Bishop.
Upton fails with a takedown attempt.
Upton blocks a jab.
Bishop with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Good shot there by Bishop.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Upton.
Upton ducks under a wild hook from Bishop.

Upton throws a lazy right hand but Bishop sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Upton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Upton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bishop takes a swing at Upton's ribcage but misses.
Bishop throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Upton needs to keep his hands up - Bishop had a free shot at his head there.
Upton throws a lazy uppercut
and Bishop counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Upton thinking.
Bishop throws a series of strikes that have Upton backpedaling.
Bishop goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Upton takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Bishop tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Upton is able to avoid easily.

Bishop gets tackled into the cage by Upton. Upton maintains the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bishop avoids the elbow strike from Upton, against the cage.
Upton misses with a punch on the inside.
Upton softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Upton scores with a shoulder strike.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Bishop.
Upton throws a knee to the head but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Upton throws a punch but it's blocked by Bishop.
Bishop gets through Upton's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Upton lands an uppercut.

Bishop manages to break the clinch.
A left and a right from Bishop both land. Nice combination.
Upton misses with an uppercut.
Upton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bishop was well out of range. Poor timing from Upton.
Upton shoots for a double leg takedown but Bishop sprawls well. He's pushed Upton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bishop lands with a kick to the temple. Upton shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


Upton is rocked!
Bishop moves out of range of the leg kick from Upton.
A combination from Upton does no damage.
Luke Upton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bishop slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Oh Upton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Luke Upton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bishop lands with a shot to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bishop throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Upton colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Bishop as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Upton is left battered and dazed whilst Bishop and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Quantrell Bishop!
Quantrell Bishop got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
