The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kamahawe Ole cracks a nice hook into Houk's ribs.

Houk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kamahawe Ole, pushing him back against the cage.
Houk keeps control of Kamahawe Ole as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kamahawe Ole tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Houk just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kamahawe Ole tries to pull guard but Houk holds him up against the cage and eventually Kamahawe Ole drops back down to his feet.
Houk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Houk is trying to force a seperation but Kamahawe Ole has the dominant position.

Houk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Houk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kamahawe Ole won't be happy with that.
Houk is looking to take a break and control but Kamahawe Ole is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Houk is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kamahawe Ole has escaped the position, nice work there.

Houk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kamahawe Ole is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kamahawe Ole explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Houk swings wildly with an uppercut but Kamahawe Ole uses good head movement to avoid it.
Houk has Kamahawe Ole pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kamahawe Ole manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Kamahawe Ole breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kamahawe Ole tries to clinch but Houk moves out of range.
Houk shoots in looking for a takedown but Kamahawe Ole manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Houk's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kamahawe Ole works over Houk's head and body with a nice combination.

Houk tries for a takedown but Kamahawe Ole manages to get underhooks.
JJ Kamahawe Ole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zak Houk.
Kamahawe Ole jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Houk walks away with a smile on his face. Kamahawe Ole gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Houk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kamahawe Ole connects with a right hand. Houk shakes it off.
Kamahawe Ole looks to land a combination but Houk avoids it well.
Houk misses with a few strikes there.
Nice takedown defense from Houk. No joy for Kamahawe Ole on that attempt.

Houk closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kamahawe Ole drags the fight down to the ground.
Houk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Houk with a flurry of punches that miss.
Houk looking to sit in guard and control but Kamahawe Ole gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Houk gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kamahawe Ole escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Houk clinches up with Kamahawe Ole and pushes him back against the cage.
Houk is trying to break the clinch but Kamahawe Ole has him pressed against the cage.

Houk wants to take the fight to the mat but Kamahawe Ole manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Kamahawe Ole passes Houk's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Houk wants to get back to his feet.

Kamahawe Ole maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Houk could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Kamahawe Ole has cracked it and Houk is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Kamahawe Ole!

In his post fight interview, JJ Kamahawe Ole started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
