The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maylan clinches.

Maylan manages to break the clinch.
Maylan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Craige avoids it really well and circles away.
Craige takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Maylan leaves Craige with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Maylan has closed the distance and engaged Craige in a clinch.
Craige wants to break the clinch but can't.

Craige manages to break the clinch.
Maylan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Craige sprawls well. Craige wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Maylan gets slowly back to his feet.

Craige is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Maylan asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Maylan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Craige keeps working.
Maylan is really struggling to control Craige but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Craige is pushing Maylan's head away, looking to escape. Maylan manages to hold on to the position though.

Maylan in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Maylan throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Craige takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

The referee asks Maylan politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Maylan prefers to stall for the moment though.
Maylan wants to control but Craige is keeping him busy.
Craige really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maylan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Maylan works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
A lull in the action here as Maylan stalls from top position.

Craige is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Maylan landing strikes.

Maylan tries for a kimura but Craige is defending well.
Maylan trying to control the action but Craige is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Maylan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Craige dives on top into guard.

Craige is looking to work some ground and pound but Maylan has wrist control.

Maylan goes for a takedown attempt but Craige pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Craige counters with a nice double leg into side control. Maylan won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Maylan wants to get back to his feet.
Maylan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Craige.
Maylan tries to improve position but can't.

Craige is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Maylan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Craige remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Maylan is looking to sinch up a triangle. Craige throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Maylan's body to avoid the submission. Maylan has instead reached around Craige's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Maylan arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
