The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sessions tries to sprawl but Alves drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Alves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sessions is just riding it out for now. Alves eventually gives up the hold.

Alves drops back looking for a leg! Sessions is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sessions manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into Sessions's guard.

Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sessions swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Manny Sessions will probably get the nod.
