PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Keyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Ernst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stephen Keyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Ernst!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ernst swinging wildly here.
Keyes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Keyes pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Keyes is looking to score with low kicks.
Keyes stuns Ernst with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Stephen Keyes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ernst moves out of range as Keyes throws a body kick.
Keyes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ernst circles away quickly and effectively.
Ernst shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Keyes as he avoids it easily.
Keyes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ernst manages to avoid it.
Ernst moves out of range of the body kick from Keyes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ernst misses with an uppercut
and Keyes counters with a nice body kick.
Ernst throws a nice looking combination but Keyes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Keyes throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ernst's head.


It looks like Tim Ernst has been cut.
Ernst connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Keyes throws a head kick but Ernst moves out of range.
Decent striking displayed by Ernst there.
Keyes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Keyes scores with a sloppy right hand. Ernst should have avoided that one.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ernst ducks under a wild hook from Keyes.
Ernst misses the body punch
and Keyes counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Good standup being displayed there by Keyes as he connects with a hook.
Ernst uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ernst tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Keyes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ernst shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Keyes but Keyes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Keyes looks to score with a jab to the body but Ernst is just out of range.
Keyes tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ernst pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Keyes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ernst bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Ernst with a nice cross.
Keyes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Keyes throws a nice inside leg kick.
Keyes throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Keyes dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ernst. That did some damage!
Keyes wants to slow Ernst down by chopping away at his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Keyes throws a nice inside leg kick.
Ernst shoots in but Keyes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stephen Keyes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tim Ernst.
Keyes tries to move into range but Ernst moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Donk. Keyes catches Ernst right on the button with a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ernst has taken the fight to the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Keyes tries to land knees in the clinch but Ernst avoids the damage to the body.
Keyes lands a knee to the body.
Keyes stalling in the clinch but Ernst improves position.
A right hook to the body lands for Keyes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Keyes dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Tim Ernst's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Keyes lands with a slapping head kick.


Ernst is rocked!
A solid body kick from Keyes.
Ernst is still on wobbly legs! Can Keyes finish him?
Keyes lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Stephen Keyes!
After the big win, Stephen Keyes made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Wolfpack Blood Labs and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
