The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Fries leaves Alkofer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Alkofer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but De Fries avoids it really well and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Alkofer.

De Fries tries to bum rush Alkofer with a series of wild strikes but Alkofer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alkofer dives in and grabs De Fries's left leg, looking for a takedown. De Fries pushes down on Alkofer's head and hops out.
Alkofer dodges the punch combination from De Fries.
De Fries will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Che De Fries is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Alkofer feints and then cracks De Fries's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow De Fries down.

De Fries throws a leg kick but Alkofer moved away.

De Fries throws a nice looking combination but Alkofer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alkofer shoots in for a double leg but De Fries sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Alkofer takes the fight into the clinch.
Alkofer tries to circle away but De Fries has him pinned against the cage.

Alkofer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
De Fries rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alkofer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Alkofer fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging De Fries to the ground. Alkofer is now in De Fries's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Alkofer wants to pass the guard but De Fries is keeping the position.
Alkofer trying to control the position from guard on top but De Fries is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Alkofer is working to tighten is grip on De Fries's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. De Fries has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Alkofer is really squeezing tight and eventually De Fries passes out! Alkofer breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
