Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bjj Spar!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Su Baru!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Baru counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Spar thinking.
Spar shoots in for a takedown but Baru shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Spar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bjj Spar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baru tries to bum rush Spar with a series of wild strikes but Spar uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Spar dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Spar fails with a takedown attempt.

Horrible takedown by Spar or perhaps it was just good defense by Baru which made him look bad.

Baru rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Spar moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Spar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Baru has hold of Spar's hands but Spar slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Spar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Baru has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spar has managed to get both his arms back between Baru's legs - danger averted.

Baru is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Spar defends well.
Spar wants to control from the top but Baru keeps moving.

Bjj Spar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Baru working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Spar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
