Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams cracks James with a good jab.
James dodges the punch combination from Adams.
Adams lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Adams misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
James has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Adams fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

James avoids a punch combination nicely.
John Adams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Adams misses.
Adams tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Adams throws a left and a right that both miss

and James counters with a nice double leg into side control. Adams won't be happy with that.
Adams manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Adams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but James sees it coming and defends easily.
Adams throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

James looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Adams wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Adams is trying to work for a kimura but James is defending well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Adams is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. James doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Adams.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
James gets back to full guard.
James is trying to control the position but Adams postures up.

Adams drops back looking for a leg! James is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and James manages to kick Adams off! Adams jumps back into James's guard.

James has his foot on Adams's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Adams works his way back into a safe position though.
James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Adams is one step ahead there.
Adams looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Adams has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Adams's legs - danger averted.

James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Adams is looking for a triangle but James pushes his legs off easily.

James drops back looking for a leg! Adams is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Adams manages to kick James off! James jumps back into Adams's guard.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Adams is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Adams has escaped and now he's on top!
Adams working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Adams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Adams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Adams won't allow James to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Adams dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James slips a jab and a cross from Adams.
Adams falls off balance throwing a combination

and James counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

James avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Adams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Adams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Adams pushes a forearm under James's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, James is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
