Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ping Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeganathan Mondero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeganathan Mondero has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ping Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeganathan Mondero!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mondero gets caught flat footed, as Wong shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mondero is on top in guard.
Mondero tries to stand but Wong is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wong is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wong takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mondero is pressing down on Wong's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Wong counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mondero's guard now.

Mondero is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wong is controlling him.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mondero holds on and takes a little breather.

Mondero has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Wong off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Mondero swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wong is now in Mondero's guard. A big mistake from Mondero there, giving up the dominant position!

Jeganathan Mondero has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wong seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Wong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mondero paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ping Wong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mondero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jeganathan Mondero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
