PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Provenzano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bekah Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bekah Montoya told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Provenzano moves into the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Montoya just misses with a elbow thrown towards Provenzano's brow.
Provenzano gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Bekah Montoya has been cut.
Montoya drops down looking for an ankle pick but Provenzano pulls his leg out and moves away.
Montoya tries to clinch up

and Provenzano counters with a single leg into guard. Montoya didn't expect that.
Montoya trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Provenzano got a little sloppy there for a moment and Montoya has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Provenzano has managed to get both his arms back between Montoya's legs - danger averted.

Provenzano has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Montoya had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Provenzano defends it easily.
Provenzano wants to pass the guard but Montoya is keeping the position.
Provenzano might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Provenzano avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Provenzano stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Montoya looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Provenzano is fending him off so far but Montoya persists. Nope, Provenzano circles away and we're back to standing.
Provenzano avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Montoya fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Provenzano avoids it really well and circles away.
Francesco Provenzano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bekah Montoya.

Montoya feints and as Provenzano raises his hands in defense, Montoya changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Montoya looks gassed!
Provenzano wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Montoya postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Provenzano is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Montoya, into his guard.

Provenzano throws a big elbow that misses.

Provenzano stands up and waves to Montoya to follow him.

Provenzano successfully pulls guard.
Montoya would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Montoya throws a strike but Provenzano rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Provenzano controls from within his opponent's guard.
Montoya is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Provenzano tries to free his leg and advance position but Montoya is retaining full guard.

Montoya has his feet on Provenzano's thighs here. He's pushed Provenzano off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Provenzano screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
