PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Boru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ten ER (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, The Boru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ten ER!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for ER with that takedown attempt.
ER looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Boru shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches ER napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Boru tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on ER's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boru works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Boru thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
ER keeping his opponent close.

Boru wants to lay and pray for a moment but ER keeps working.
ER wants to control but Boru postures up.
Boru throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Boru stands up and we're back to a striking position.

ER gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Boru slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Boru accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Boru wants to pass the guard but ER is keeping the position.
ER working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Boru.
Boru pushes down on ER's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Boru prevents ER from standing back up.
ER wants to control but Boru is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref stands the fighters back up. The Boru wasn't doing enough on the ground.
ER shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boru pinned against the cage. Boru gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
ER is looking to clinch but Boru is avoiding it.
ER lands a nice looking body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Boru closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. ER quickly recovers to half guard.
Boru is taking a breather. ER says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Boru stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows ER to get to his feet.
Boru shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. ER defends it nicely.
Boru throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around ER's waist but ER gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boru off to one side.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boru closes this distance looking for a takedown but ER circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The Boru. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boru is breathing heavily.
ER fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
ER tries to clinch up but Boru circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Boru's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

ER throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Boru seems to be looking for submissions.
Boru wants to free his trapped foot but ER is holding on for dear life with his legs.
ER is trying to control but can't.
Boru with the ground and pound but ER uses the opportunity to regain guard.

ER is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boru defends well.

Boru really is a fat lump.
The referee asks Boru politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Boru prefers to stall for the moment though.
ER sneaks back into half guard.
Still in half guard, Boru seems content to control.
ER is breathing heavily.

ER wants to improve his position but Boru is controlling well.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Boru is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, ER has managed to free his arm - good work.
ER tries to roll over but Boru keeps him under control.

Boru trying to work for an americana but ER has managed to regain full guard.
ER wants to get back to his feet but Boru is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

ER keeping moving, preventing Boru from controlling successfully.
Boru stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. ER swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Boru drops back, looking for a kneebar! ER looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. ER looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from ER!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Boru tries to buck ER off but ER is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Boru dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Boru closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Boru lands in his opponent's guard.

ER tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Boru shoots in and drives through. ER sprawls well.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Boru shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as ER sprawls well. ER wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Boru gets slowly back to his feet.
The Boru is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boru takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
ER goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
ER shoots in for a takedown but Boru shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
ER throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boru's waist but Boru gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing ER off to one side.
No luck for ER with that takedown attempt.

Boru moves into the clinch.

Boru misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Boru drags the fight down to the ground.
Boru on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boru tries to get out of the position.

Boru manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. ER manages to get himself to full guard.
Boru is looking to advance position but ER has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
ER can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boru is looking to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
The Boru showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boru, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
