PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Roxas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Pascal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roxas kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Are You Ready?. John Pascal will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean Roxas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Pascal!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pascal tries to clinch but Roxas moves out of range.
Pascal uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Roxas.
Pascal throws out a loose jab but Roxas uses good head movement to avoid it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pascal. Roxas does a little dance to reset his feet.
Pascal tries to clinch up.
Pascal tries to clinch but Roxas is having none of it.

Pascal throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pascal is looking to clinch but Roxas is avoiding it.

Pascal lands a nice hook to Roxas's body. Roxas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Roxas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pascal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roxas somewhat.

John Pascal is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Pascal lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Roxas backs up against the cage.
Roxas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pascal moves away.

Pascal gets caught flat footed, as Roxas shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Pascal.

Roxas moves forwards but Pascal connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Roxas has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Pascal is trying to keep an underhook but Roxas manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pascal tries to roll over but Roxas keeps him under control.
Well, if Roxas is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Roxas wants to free his trapped foot but Pascal is holding on for dear life with his legs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Pascal swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roxas looks to score with a jab to the body but Pascal is just out of range.

Roxas is working for takedown but Pascal is calmly controlling the position for now.
Pascal is trying to maintain a safe position but Roxas gets an underhook and turns Pascal into the cage.

Pascal lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Roxas.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Roxas has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pascal avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Roxas moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Pascal sizes up Roxas with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Roxas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pascal circles away quickly and effectively.
Pascal looks to land a combination but Roxas avoids it well.

Roxas looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Pascal lands with a left to the head.
Roxas is trying to drag Pascal to the mat but Pascal just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Roxas is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Pascal's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Roxas is trying to push Pascal away but Pascal has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Roxas wants a takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Pascal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Pascal's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Pascal duly obliges.
Pascal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Roxas swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sean Roxas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pascal enables Roxas to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pascal manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Roxas is looking to work some ground and pound but Pascal has wrist control.
Roxas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pascal wants to control but Roxas passes easily into half guard.
Roxas wants to pass the guard but Pascal is defending well.
Roxas passes to side control.

Roxas works to advance to full mount. Pascal defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Pascal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Roxas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Roxas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pascal looks a forlorn figure.
Roxas tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
