Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Francesco Chiappinelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fernando Moreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luis Fernando Moreira!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moreira connects with a body shot that sends Chiappinelli's belly button to the back.
Chiappinelli tries for a takedown but Moreira sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Chiappinelli is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Moreira.

Chiappinelli has Moreira up against the cage in a clinch.
Chiappinelli keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Moreira's efforts to push away.

Chiappinelli pulls guard successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Luis Fernando Moreira hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Chiappinelli gets control of Moreira's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chiappinelli will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Moreira accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Moreira thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Chiappinelli is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Moreira wants to get up but he can't break Chiappinelli's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Moreira is defended easily by Chiappinelli.

Chiappinelli manages to break the clinch.
Moreira throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chiappinelli's waist but Chiappinelli gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Moreira off to one side.

Moreira tries to pull guard but Chiappinelli holds him up against the cage and eventually Moreira drops back down to his feet.

Moreira tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Chiappinelli smiles and moves away.

Chiappinelli closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Moreira's guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Moreira closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Moreira lands in his opponent's guard.
Moreira won't allow Chiappinelli to sweep him here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moreira wants to control from the top but Chiappinelli keeps moving.
Moreira might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chiappinelli kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Chiappinelli has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Moreira uses from the top position.

Chiappinelli is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Chiappinelli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moreira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Chiappinelli stands and steps away. Moreira gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

And that's the end of the fight!
Francesco Chiappinelli showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Chiappinelli has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
