PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dee Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Areli Durga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain comes into the arena with AC/DC - If you want Blood (You've got it) blaring out of the sound system. Durga is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Godsmack - Voodoo. On his way into the cage it seems that Dee Pain has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dee Pain seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dee Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Areli Durga!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durga waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pain.
Durga throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pain's head.
Pain scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Durga with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
No joy there for Durga, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Durga looks for the body kick but Pain saw that one coming.
Areli Durga seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Durga ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pain moves away.
A chopping leg kick lands by Durga.
Pain keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Durga throws a low kick but Pain moves out of range easily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Durga.

Durga rushes Pain and presses him up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Durga misses with a knee strike.
Pain working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Durga blocking some punches.

Pain pulls guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Pain looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain looking to hit a scissor sweep but Durga is one step ahead there.

Pain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Durga defends well.

Durga got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Durga has managed to get both his arms back between Pain's legs - danger averted.
Pain is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pain looking to hit a scissor sweep but Durga is one step ahead there.
Pain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Durga wants to stand and escape but instead Pain has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Pain preventing the sweep.
Pain lands a couple of digs.
Pain is in close to Durga's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pain trying to control the position from guard on top but Durga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pain postures up in Durga's guard and throws a big left but Durga blocks it.
Pain stopping the sweep attempt from Durga.
Pain throws a big right hand that misses.
Durga trying to keep a closed guard but Pain is proving a slippery customer.
Durga preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pain trying to control the position from guard on top but Durga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pain is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Durga is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Durga has his hands on Pain's head, controlling the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Dee Pain wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Durga defends it nicely.
Durga throws a sloppy head kick and Pain moves out of range easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Durga moves into the clinch.

Pain has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Durga regains guard immediately.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dee Pain dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Durga cracks Pain with an open hand slap.
Durga misses with a hook. Pain ducked under it nicely.
A good leg kick by Durga.
Pain throws a low kick but it's checked well by Durga.
Durga fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Pain is out of range.
Durga lands a nice leg kick that just misses Pain's sensitive parts.
Durga bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Durga scores with a kick to the midsection.
Durga connects with a leg kick. Pain looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Pain jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pain walks forward, straight into a front kick from Durga.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Durga misses with a body kick.
Good shot there by Pain.
Durga lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain shoots for a takedown but Durga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Durga scoring well with a low kick there.
Durga wants to land a leg kick but Pain is out of range.
Pain throws a body punch but Durga moves out of range.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Pain checks a leg kick.
Durga throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Pain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Durga tries to avoid it but Pain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Durga to the ground. Durga escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pain checks a leg kick.
Durga scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Areli Durga is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pain throws a hook to the side of Durga's head but Durga sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Durga scores with a nice body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pain falls off balance throwing a combination
and Durga counters with a nice kick to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Durga lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Durga misses with a body kick.
Durga bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Pain circles away from the clinch attempt.
Durga wants to clinch.
A good leg kick by Durga.
Durga turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Pain blocks the body kick.
Pain throws a big shot that misses.
Pain takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Durga tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Pain counters with a thumping low kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Durga fakes the leg kick and cracks Pain in the body.
Pain throws a hook to the side of Durga's head but Durga sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Pain blocks the body kick.
Pain with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Durga to score with a decent uppercut.
Pain shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Durga eats them both and turns towards Pain to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Durga tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Pain is able to avoid easily.
Durga looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Durga clinches up with Pain and pushes him back against the cage.

Pain pulls guard effortlessly.
Durga trying to control but Pain is working from the bottom.
Durga must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pain seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Durga wanted to stand there but Pain had control of the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Areli Durga wasn't active enough on the ground.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Durga.
Pain keeps the fight on the outside.
Durga lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Pain is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Durga dodges the punch combination from Pain.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A telegraphed right hand from Pain misses the target.

Durga takes the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Areli Durga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Pain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pain walks into a jab.
Durga is looking to clinch.
Pain buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Durga throws a low kick, looking for Pain's leg but Pain calmly moves out of range.
Durga misses with a low kick.
Pain drops his hands momentarily and Durga takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Pain throws a looping overhand right but Durga ducks down to avoid it.
Durga scores with a head kick. Pain tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A nice right hand lands inside from Durga.
Pain gets through Durga's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Pain is working for takedown but Durga is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pain takes an elbow to the temple.
Pain throws a head punch that misses.
Durga working Pain over with knees to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Durga stalling the fight.
Durga using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Pain has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Nice elbow from Durga.
Pain misses with some punches.
Pain working aggressively here.
Durga tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Pain tries to throw a body punch but Durga avoids it by throwing Pain back against the cage.
Durga prevents a body shot from Pain.
Durga pushes Pain back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Durga takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Pain blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pain.
Pain tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Durga's elbow.
Pain misses with a short punch on the inside.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Durga is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Pain is keeping busy.

Pain jumps guard and drags Durga to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pain looking for a sweep. Not yet Pain, not yet.
Pain is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pain pulls Durga in close to prevent any damage.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pain is trying to control the position but Durga postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Dee Pain wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Durga scores with a spinning back kick!
Pain falls off balance throwing a combination
and Durga counters with a low kick, right behind Pain 's knee.
Pain has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Durga.
Durga lands a nice looking body kick.
Pain misses the shot to the body.
Durga throws a nice inside leg kick.
Durga lands a head kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pain tries to move into range but Durga moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Durga wants to clinch
and Durga takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Areli Durga seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pain tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Durga throws a front kick that sends Pain stumbling back into the cage.
Durga lands with a kick to the ribs.
Pain takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Pain chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Durga can pounce on him.
Pain on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Durga. Durga obviously looking to wear him down.
Durga throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Durga connects with an inside leg kick.
Pain has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Durga.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Durga turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Durga moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Nice uppercut lands for Durga. That snapped Pain's head back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Areli Durga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Durga has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
