PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eli Gull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronny Bruvik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruvik has chosen Rånny Bruvik as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Eli Gull has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Eli Gull seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eli Gull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronny Bruvik!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruvik keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Bruvik takes a swing at Gull's ribcage but misses.

Bruvik fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gull, pushing him back against the cage.
Bruvik working aggressively here.
Gull avoids the elbow strike from Bruvik, against the cage.
Gull is trying to pull guard but Bruvik turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gull tries to pull guard but Bruvik forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Gull wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bruvik changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gull fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Bruvik looks for the body kick but Gull saw that one coming.
Bruvik has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bruvik uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gull.
A slapping body kick lands there for Bruvik.
Gull on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

That kick from Bruvik tenderised Gull's leg. Gull is trying to keep his angry face on.
The fighters circling - Gull throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bruvik misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gull misses with a few strikes there.
Bruvik misses with a looping right.
Gull throws a hook to the side of Bruvik's head but Bruvik sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bruvik throws a front kick that sends Gull stumbling back into the cage.
Gull is breathing heavily.
Gull throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bruvik is defended easily by Gull.
Bruvik tries to clinch up but Gull circles away and keeps his distance.
Sloppy strikes from Gull. Those never looked like landing.
Bruvik changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

This has been an exciting period of action!
A head kick misses from Bruvik.
Bruvik takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Bruvik tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Gull throws a jab when Bruvik was well out of range.
Gull dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bruvik looks to land a body kick but Gull moved away.
No joy there for Gull, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bruvik throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gull lands a jab to Bruvik's midsection.
Bruvik is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gull.
Bruvik throws a wild body kick that Gull sees coming a mile off.
Gull takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Gull takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gull takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Bruvik tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Bruvik throws a head kick but Gull moves out of range.
Gull swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gull takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bruvik punishes Gull's body with a nice straight punch.

Bruvik looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Gull!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Gull holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Bruvik tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bruvik can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gull is looking to escape.
Bruvik has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Gull is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gull looks to land a right hand but Bruvik moved out of range.

Gull swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Bruvik counters with a head kick.
Ronny Bruvik seems to be getting the better of the standup.

enabling Bruvik to counter with a crisp jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bruvik loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gull will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bruvik keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gull's head.

We're going to have a standup here because Eli Gull wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Ronny Bruvik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Bruvik has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gull throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gull is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Bruvik finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Gull will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bruvik does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Eli Gull is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bruvik shoots for a double leg takedown but Gull sprawls well. He's pushed Bruvik's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bruvik throws a leg kick which misses Gull's front leg but catches the back leg as Gull tries to avoid it.
Bruvik feints and then cracks Gull's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gull down.

Bruvik shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Bruvik in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gull tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Bruvik!

A less than humble Ronny Bruvik misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
