The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valdez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Valdez wants to pass the guard but Ganbold is defending well.

Valdez postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ganbold to stand up.
No joy there for Valdez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ganbold fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ganbold throws a head kick that misses.

Valdez darts in and clinches Ganbold up against the cage.
Valdez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Valdez jumps guard.
Ganbold wants to stand and escape but instead Valdez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Valdez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
