PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Warnock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Astral Collapse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Collapse comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Lyrinx - Nihilistic Purity kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Warnock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Astral Collapse!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collapse changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Warnock tries to avoid it but Collapse manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Warnock to the ground. Warnock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Warnock fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Collapse should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Collapse has a takedown stuffed.

Warnock gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Collapse to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Warnock looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Collapse throws an elbow that misses. Warnock uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Collapse's guard. Nice move by Warnock!

Collapse drops back, looking for a kneebar! Warnock looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Warnock looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Warnock!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close round but Astral Collapse will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Warnock throws a head kick that misses.
Collapse moves in looking to clinch but Warnock pushes him off.
Collapse throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Warnock misses with a takedown

and Collapse decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Warnock's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Warnock looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Collapse puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Astral Collapse showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Collapse smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Warnock misses with a takedown

and Collapse counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Warnock!
Collapse breaks from Warnock's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Warnock tries to reverse the position but Collapse maintains control.

Collapse goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Warnock is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Collapse controls Warnock momentarily but Warnock frees himself.

Collapse is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Collapse looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Astral Collapse wasn't active enough on the ground.
Collapse misses with a wild body shot.
Warnock wants to clinch up but Collapse keeps it at a distance.

Collapse takes the fight into the clinch.

Collapse manages to break the clinch.
Astral Collapse is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Collapse closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Warnock to the mat! Warnock manages to get full guard.

Collapse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Warnock has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Collapse has managed to get both his arms back between Warnock's legs - danger averted.
Collapse controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Collapse has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Warnock controls Collapse momentarily but Collapse frees himself.

Collapse stands and steps away. Warnock gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Collapse shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Collapse trying to control from half guard but Warnock is working away.
Collapse is controlling the pace.
Warnock trying to hold on to Collapse's head to control him but Collapse postures up.

Collapse wants to stand but Warnock has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Warnock tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
John Warnock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Warnock is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Collapse is controlling the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Warnock is trying to stand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Astral Collapse comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Collapse has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
