With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Christian!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christian avoids a kick to the body.
Christian throws a right and a left that both miss.
Runkle motions for Christian to come forward. Runkle throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Christian connects with an inside leg kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Runkle.
Runkle misses with a head kick.
Runkle fails in his attempt to clinch.
Runkle turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Runkle.
Runkle content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Christian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Runkle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Runkle wants to control but Christian is keeping him busy.

Runkle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Christian is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Runkle is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Christian is surviving well by controlling Runkle's body position as best he can.

Runkle goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Christian is on top in guard.

Runkle is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Christian trying to stand up but can't free himself from Runkle's guard.

Runkle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Christian gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Runkle is adopting a defensive guard.
Christian stays in close to Runkle's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Runkle is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Christian sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Christian.
Christian throws a nice looking combination but Runkle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Charlie Runkle.
I think Christian has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
