PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sho Shinjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Massive Boner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shinjo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Theme of Sho. Sho Shinjo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shinjo jabs Boner right on the nose. Boner blinks but takes it well.
Boner throws a right hand that misses

and Shinjo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Boner's guard now.
Shinjo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boner works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shinjo working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Boner doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Boner is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Shinjo passes Boner's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shinjo pulls his head out easily.
Boner flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Boner wants to control but Shinjo is keeping busy.

Boner is looking for a sweep. Shinjo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boner can do anything to dispel that myth.
Boner tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Boner tries to roll over but Shinjo keeps him under control.

Shinjo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boner is just riding it out for now. Shinjo eventually gives up the hold.

Boner lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Boner is trying to get back to full guard.
Shinjo is trying to control. Boner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Shinjo moves into full mount! Boner won't be happy about that!

Shinjo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Boner to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Boner shrugs it off.
Shinjo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Boner sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Shinjo moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Boner.
Shinjo just content to control the position.
Shinjo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Boner!
Boner is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Boner is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Boner throwing hammer fists to the chest of Shinjo. What's that going to do exactly?
Boner swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boner is looking to get to half guard.
Boner wants to control but Shinjo is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Boner blocks a head kick by Shinjo.
Boner misses with a takedown attempt - Shinjo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Boner has a takedown stuffed.
Shinjo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Boner's head.

Boner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shinjo to the ground. Boner is now in Shinjo's guard.

Sho Shinjo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Boner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Boner landing some decent shots from guard.
Boner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shinjo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shinjo is trying to control the position but Boner postures up.
Boner throws an elbow that misses. Shinjo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Boner's guard. Nice move by Shinjo!
