PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Vogel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Vogel!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vogel misses with a wild combination.
Rua dodges the punch combination from Vogel.
Rua misses with a low kick.
Sloppy strikes from Vogel. Those never looked like landing.

Rua tries to clinch up but Vogel circles away and keeps his distance.
Vogel stalks Rua and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rua's face. Rua staggers backwards, shaken.
Vogel misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rua throws a series of strikes that have Vogel backpedaling.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rua misses with a left hand
and Vogel counters with a slapping leg kick.
Rua lands with a shot to the body.
Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vogel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vogel lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Vogel throws a right and a left that both miss.
Rua scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Vogel doesn't seem bothered though.
Vogel scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Rua scores with a takedown into Vogel's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rua wants to pass the guard but Vogel is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rua is pushing down on Vogel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vogel is fighting to maintain full guard but Rua has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rua passes to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rua is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Vogel can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Rua is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vogel can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Rua with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rua looking to ground and pound but Vogel is blocking nicely.

Rua is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Vogel has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Rua throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rua tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Vogel holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rua tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Rua controlling the position easily from mount.
Rua connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Rua dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


The fight stays on the outside here - Rua looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rua throws a right and a left that both miss.
A combination from Vogel does no damage.
A punch combination from Vogel misses.
Kurt Vogel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rua closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vogel quickly recovers to half guard.
Rua passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Vogel!
Rua lands a heavy elbow.

Rua looking to isolate an arm here. Vogel doesn't see it coming and as Rua extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Rua!
