PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Elsworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Ak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elsworth comes to the cage accompanied by Iron Maiden - Killers . I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Sergei Ak was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ak darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Ak is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ak is working for a kimura but Elsworth is defending it quite comfortably.
Ak is pressing down on Elsworth's thigh, looking to free his foot. Elsworth is holding on for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elsworth tries to lock up and control but Ak gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Ak postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Elsworth looks a forlorn figure.

Ak looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Ak looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Elsworth is squirming around, avoiding Ak's attempts to control the action.
Ak throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Ak goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Elsworth is on top in guard.
Ak trying to keep a closed guard but Elsworth is proving a slippery customer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Ak throws a shot from downtown. Elsworth moves away and avoids it.
Ak throws a hook to the side of Elsworth's head but Elsworth sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ak takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Elsworth lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Elsworth scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Elsworth throws a low kick, looking for Ak's leg but Ak calmly moves out of range.
Ak will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Elsworth scores with a hook to the body. Ak takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Elsworth fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Ak shoots for a double leg takedown but Elsworth sprawls well. He's pushed Ak's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nice uppercut lands for Elsworth. That snapped Ak's head back.
Ak is breathing heavily.
Ak sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Elsworth scores with the left hand. Ak knows he should have avoided that one.

It looks like Sergei Ak has been cut.
Ak walks into a jab.
Elsworth lands with a hook. Ak tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Ak moves out of range of the body kick.
Elsworth misses with a few strikes there.
Ak throws a lazy uppercut
and Elsworth counters with a good low kick that Ak was not able to check.
Elsworth lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ak takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Good leg kick by Elsworth there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ak fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Ak throws a strike aimed at the side of Elsworth's head but Elsworth avoids it well.
Elsworth parries the strikes from Ak easily there. Ak is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Elsworth to escape.
Ak tries to move into full mount but can't pass Elsworth's legs.

Ak looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Sergei Ak has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ak throws a strike aimed at the side of Elsworth's head but Elsworth avoids it well.
Ak with the ground and pound but Elsworth regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Elsworth is holding on to half guard well.
Ak throws a strike but Elsworth avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Ak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Elsworth swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ak wants to control from the top but Elsworth keeps moving.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ak throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Elsworth dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Sergei Ak's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Ak ducks right into an uppercut from Elsworth.

A head kick from Elsworth lands but Ak takes it in his stride.

Ak goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ak looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rob Elsworth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ak takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ak pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ak crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Elsworth - the referee stops the clock and Ak gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Elsworth. Ak manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Elsworth lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Jab, jab by Elsworth - just one landing.
Elsworth throws a body kick that misses.
Ak misses with a hook. Elsworth ducked under it nicely.
Ak doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Elsworth chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ak can pounce on him.
Ak looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Elsworth misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Ak.

Ak wants to take the fight to the mat but Elsworth manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
