Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Del Estep!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mr Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Estep dives in and scores a takedown into Anderson's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Estep accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Estep wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.
Estep throws a big right hand that misses.
Estep postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anderson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Mr Anderson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Anderson closes the distance and clinches up with Estep, looking for a takedown. Anderson pushes Estep against the cage but Estep circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A close round but Mr Anderson will probably get the nod.

Anderson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Del Estep seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Estep shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Anderson as he avoids it easily.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Estep looks for a takedown but Anderson sprawls well.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Estep crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Anderson - the referee stops the clock and Estep gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Anderson. Estep manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Del Estep is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Estep defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Anderson.

Estep throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Estep is in Anderson's guard.

Anderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Estep's guard.

Estep is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mr Anderson.
Estep stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Anderson.

Anderson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Anderson showed some decent athleticism there.

Estep has one foot on Anderson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Estep decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Estep is keen to just control but Anderson is a slippery customer.
Estep throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but Del Estep did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Estep enables Anderson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Estep manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Estep trying to control the position but instead, Anderson has worked for underhooks and has pushed Estep into the cage.

Anderson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Anderson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Estep connects with a nice short shot to Anderson's temple.

A close fourth round but Mr Anderson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Estep's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Anderson tries to land a knee to the head but Estep blocks with his arms.

Estep leaves Anderson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Estep has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Estep is pressed up against the cage. Anderson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Estep down to the mat. Estep avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Del Estep has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr Anderson.
Estep shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but Estep keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Estep stuffs the takedown.

And that's the end of the fight!
Del Estep showed his dominance in that final round.
