PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donny Meyers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coleman comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to the Jungle. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brock Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donny Meyers!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman shoots for a takedown but Meyers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Coleman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Meyers cracks Coleman with an uppercut from hell and Coleman crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Meyers's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Coleman is rocked!


It looks like Brock Coleman has been cut.
Meyers passes Coleman's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Oh Coleman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Meyers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Coleman is just riding it out for now. Meyers eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meyers is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Coleman is controlling Meyers's trapped leg to prevent Meyers from advancing to side control.
Coleman seems to have got his legs back now.
Coleman wants to improve his position but Meyers is controlling well.
Meyers looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Coleman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meyers on the ground.

Coleman is trying to control but can't.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Coleman has Meyers up against the cage in a clinch.

Meyers is fighting off a takedown attempt but Coleman is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Meyers to the mat. Meyers regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Meyers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Coleman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Coleman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Meyers has his foot on Coleman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Coleman works his way back into a safe position though.

Meyers tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Coleman controls from within his opponent's guard.
Coleman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Coleman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Coleman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Meyers keeps the fight on the outside.

and Coleman counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Coleman turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Coleman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Meyers can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Meyers down.
Meyers is trying to get back to half guard.
Meyers misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Meyers struggling a bit here.
Coleman in side control lands a decent elbow.
Meyers tries to buck Coleman off but Coleman is having none of it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Meyers but Meyers pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Coleman takes the fight into the clinch.
Coleman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Meyers avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coleman has Meyers pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Meyers manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Coleman turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Coleman manages to end up in side control.

Meyers is looking for a sweep.

Coleman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Meyers for as long as he can get away with.
Coleman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Coleman connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Meyers some visible discomfort.
Coleman lands a nice forearm strike.
Coleman controls the position.
Meyers is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Meyers tries to improve position but can't.
Coleman is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Meyers's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Brock Coleman just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Coleman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Meyers paws at him with a jab and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Coleman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Coleman throws a strike but Meyers avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brock Coleman will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Nice defenses there by Meyers.
Meyers drops his shoulder and cracks Coleman with a huge uppercut! Coleman goes down! Can Meyers finish him?
Meyers sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Coleman's guard.

Meyers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Meyers seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Coleman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Meyers is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Coleman is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
