Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Chris White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cong Mao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris White has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cong Mao!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Eddie Farnsworth and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White circles away from the clinch attempt
and White counters with a left to the body.

Mao drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
White keeping moving, preventing Mao from controlling successfully.
Mao engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Mao is looking to work some ground and pound but White has wrist control.
Mao wants to control from the top but White keeps moving.

White wants to get back to his feet but Mao is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
White will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mao is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cong Mao wasn't active enough on the ground.

White closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mao's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mao pulls White in close to his closed guard and prevents White from doing any damage or advancing position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Cong Mao hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Mao shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. White is trying to defend but Mao finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mao seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but White does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
White is trying to get back to full guard.

White is controlling Mao's trapped leg to prevent Mao from advancing to side control.
Mao is stalling here. White is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Mao seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and White has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

White is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

White is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

White tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

White tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mao sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten White somewhat.

Mao shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
White's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Mao fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
White is squirming around, avoiding Mao's attempts to control the action.
White wants to hold on but Mao pushes him away.

Mao controlling the pace for now.
Mao postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. White looks a forlorn figure.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White tries to hold on but Mao pushes him away.
Mao lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Mao controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cong Mao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Mao shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in White's guard.

Mao gets to his feet - White follows without any prompting.
Mao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. White tries to avoid it but Mao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag White to the ground. White escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mao looks to land a combination but White avoids it well.
Mao misses with a looping left.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mao bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that's the end of the fight!
Cong Mao comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mao has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
